**What you’ll do**
- Lead and mentor a multi-skilled team to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions to support business goals.
- Represent the specialist function in high-level meetings and decision-making processes
- Oversee resource planning and allocation for the specialist function
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the specialist area
- Lead strategic negotiations with key stakeholders and vendors
- Collaborate with feature teams and third parties to identify and implement creative solutions that align with business objectives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior architects and developers, leading by example with hands-on coding and problem-solving.
- Monitor and report on project progress, addressing any issues promptly to ensure timely delivery. Identify and mitigate risks to ensure the successful implementation of projects.
- Develop and document processes to improve engineering efficiency and service quality.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, fostering an environment of learning and growth within the team.
- Supervise the maintenance and enhancement of service infrastructure, ensuring its reliability and efficiency.
- Management of Third Party Suppliers to ensure solutions are performant, secure and resilient, and meet bank objectives and client needs.
- Ensure that all engineering activities comply with industry standards and regulations.

**What you’ll need**
- **Software Engineering**:

- Possess a deep understanding of the software lifecycle, ensuring high standards in design, development, testing, and deployment.
- **Operational optimisation**- Demonstrable experience of optimising Run operations for highly available systems, including control automation, end to end system monitoring and observability
- **Service Sustainability**& Incident Resolution - demonstrable experience of incident resolution, and root cause identification.
- **Technology leadership**:

- Capable of defining and maintaining engineering standards, aligning solutions with business objectives and architectural principles.
- **Technology delivery**:

- Provide technology leadership across technical components and complex cross-cutting deliveries spanning multiple platforms and business units.
- Experience of DevOps Pipeline optimisation
- Familiarity with the concept of automated testing and process automation
- Significant experience in delivering technical solutions in an Agile environment.
