If you wish to be offered on a secondment basis, you will need to have gained your line managers approval for the secondment prior to going to interview.

Swansea Bay Ophthalmology department has a large Outpatient presence in Singleton, Neath Port Talbot hospitals and various community hubs.

To undertake secretarial and admin duties

Shorthand/audio typing to produce standard clinic letters

Accurate transcription (audio/copy typing) of dictated clinical letters and discharge summaries, ensuring clarity, grammatical correctness and ensuring dictation matches patient entry.

To provide cover for Consultant secretaries within specialty during their annual leave and sickness - under supervision.

Liaise with Medical staff to ensure production and signing of letters is within appropriate timescales.

Typing of appropriate official correspondence and related clerical duties.

Request, receive and dispatch case notes, complying with the Medical Records Policy, in a timely manner and to ensure that all case notes, their content and other records are returned to file as quickly as possible in a tidy condition. Process all via Ifit tracking system.

Assist the Directorate Specialty Manager with Referral to Treatment (RTT) pathways and targets.

Maintain and update patients record details within the appropriate patient information system

Update patient details e.g. change of address, surname, G.P. ensuring case-notes update to agreed standard including printing of new labels.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers
