An opportunity has arisen in our outpatient unit for a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker to join the nursing team. We are a busy department open Monday to from Friday, where we look after patients attending for treatments & supporting them through their cancer journey, using systemic anti-cancer treatments and radiotherapy.
The work is primarily running clinics but Phlebotomy, management and care of CVAD's are also involved, for which training can be provided and undertaking ECGs and other directed clinical and support tasks. Computer skills would also be helpful.
Applicants need to poses an Apprenticeship Level 3 in Health or NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care.
Assist the registered nurses in the planning, implementation and
evaluation of nursing care for patients receiving chemotherapy and
supportive treatments.
Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs
of patients and their families.
Ensure that the role enhances the smooth running of the unit by
proactively undertaking tasks within own scope of responsibility and
supporting task undertaken by the trained staff as necessary.
Participate in the development of self and others

Assist in the assessment of health care needs by undertaking
assessment aspects that have been delegated by the registered
practitioner and in completion of care documentation
At the direction of the Registered Nurse participate fully in the
delivery of planned nursing care
At the direction of the Registered Nurse undertakes specific Trust
approved enhanced clinical skills such as care of PICC lines relevant
to ward/department, having undertaken appropriate training and
assessment.
Assist the registered Nurse in the evaluation of care and completion
of patient documents
Involve patients and carers/relatives in the delivery of care
Provide reassurance support to patients and carers/family
Works collaboratively with others in the day unit to ensure that
patients and carers needs are met
Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency
situations
