Risk Assessor (Trainee)

This is a key role in our property finance lending operation where loans range between £200k and £15m.

It involves core responsibility in the areas of:

- Book management of £100m's of facilities
- Visiting sites for new loan propositions
- Monitoring multiple million-pound works projects
- Recovery management
- Reviewing underwriters loan packs for specialist property loans

Aspen Bridging is a principal specialist lender. It is part of S&U PLC a FTSE listed firm with a market cap of over £300m.

We are an award-winning lender ‘Product of the Year’ B&C Awards (22 & 18 winner 19 highly commended) and ‘Highly Commended Newcomer’ and ‘Underwriter of the Year’ Crystal SF Awards.

We fund projects with loans up to £15m for property developers & international investors across the country. We are represented by and work closely with leading law and valuation firms such as Fieldfisher LLP (Law firm of the Year) and valuation experts such as VAS to deliver the fastest service in the industry.

The role requires an active decision maker, performing multiple tasks including (amongst other things):

- Risk analysis and pricing of a variety of loan proposals.
- Assessing borrower suitability.
- Visiting securities to assess them and review any works progress.
- Explaining and documenting decisions made for credit reviews.
- Liaising between lawyers and agents and managing the recovery progress.
- Negotiating with customers and introducers on a case-by-case basis.
- Using in-house CRM and workflow system to manage relationships and deal progress.
- Liaising with customers to access their progress and strategy.
- Case ownership to manage cases through to redemption.

You will have access to a specialised training programme covering property finance, law, regulations and valuation and you will work directly alongside senior underwriters, risk managers and will have daily communication with our Head of Risk.

We operate a balanced approach to working with 3 days a week in the office and 2 days either working from home or on-site visits.

We're committed to hiring applicants with an interest in property finance & law. You will need to be driven, intelligent and motivated. Applicants need to be personable and fast learning and ideally with a driving license. This is not a basic 9-5 this is a longer working role with significant room for advancement and major learning opportunities about multiple elements of property and finance.

We have hired a number of graduates and there is a clear progression route from Trainee to full Risk Assessor, Senior Risk Assessor and eventually Risk Manager given time and performance.

Pay: £25,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 10 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
