Job Title: Yard Operator

Location: Crumlin Factory

JOB PURPOSE

The person in this role will be able to think and act independently, taking ownership and leading the responsibilities of the yard area. The responsibilities would include;

Operation and standards within the yard area; defined by all outside areas of the factory with the exception of the pallet storage area and area immediately outside the engineering workshop.

Ensuring that the safety and cleanliness of the area are maintained. Ensuring environmental compliance by minimising the risk of spills, overflows or other release to the environment and acting to resolve them if such an event does occur.

This person is the on-site lead for the effluent plant and as such should complete checks on the effluent plant to ensure compliance of effluent and carry out routine tasks on the plant such as replace chemicals and coordinate collection of oils / sludge etc. If there are issues on the plant then they should diagnose and resolve them either themselves or in in liaison with Recoil. They will also ensure all factory waste is handled, processed and removed from site through correct routes

They will be communicating with various third parties to organise collections (including Recoil, Mitie, Sugarich, Whites, Brocklesby, Sadlers and others) to liaise on collections and rectify issues.

They will also be expected to take a lead role in liaising with contractors working in yard area to coordinate activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for all activities in the yard, these include but are not restricted to the following;- Ensure safety, environmental protection and GMP in the yard area including emergency response to issues- All activities associated with the effluent plant including; tests on water being discharged, removing of waste solids, resolving issues on the plant either directly or in liaison with Recoil- Collect general waste bins from canteen and security and empty into compactor- Compacting waste lids, cardboard and cups- Filling Saddlers wagon with used cardboard boxes- Ensure skip (E.g.sugarich) collections happen on time and ensure the swaps are managed safely- Ensure compactor collections happen on time and ensure the swaps are managed safely- Offloading of chemicals and replacing chemical IBCs on effluent plant and wash bay- Support tanker driver in emptying of sludge tank and ensuring tank is prepared (steam turned on) ahead of collection- Support tanker driver with collection of recovered oil from effluent system and loading waste oil IBCs produced in process- Ensuring materials required for the role are ordered by others (including baling wire, white pallets and chemicals)- Check drains for blockages or oil contamination

ALL ABOUT YOU- Must be able to work independently and prioritise tasks- Be proactive in identifying and resolving issues- Communicate in a clear and concise way- Communicate to third parties- Conscientious- Trained forklift truck driver (or applicant given opportunity to undertake and pass FLT test)- Trained in spill response
