Our client is a multinational consumer goods corporation; specializing in a wide range of personal care and hygiene products; organized into several segments including Beauty; Grooming; Health Care; Fabric & Home Care; and Baby and Feminine care.

The project is intended to refine the use of these technologies as a prelude to manufacturing trials by establishing final use protocols and verification of their fitness in the manufacture of Fast Moving Consumer Goods.
This is a 6 month position based at our clients new R&D facility in Reading UK.
- the qualification and validation of the effectiveness of these approaches relative to products and reference chemicals
- confirming the accuracy and sensitivity of the techniques relative to known reference cultures, and establish the relationship relative to other ARMM’s and traditional microbiological techniques.
Part of the work will be the development of a referential data base (to aid the identification of organisms from essentially a chemical 'fingerprint') with the expectation that key data will be shared externally via cross industry collaborations and publication.
Important Responsibilities of Job
- To be trained in the operation of the equipment, sample preparation, analysis and data handling
- according to Good Manufacturing Practices.
- To execute a defined testing program with technical rigour and accurate record keeping.
- To generate statistically robust data for the validation of the technique, creating and maintaining appropriate data libraries and comparison to traditional techniques.
- To validate sample separation approaches and recovery data for products and reference chemistries.
Qualifications, Experience & Attributes
- Degree level qualification (BSc
- or equivalent) in Microbiology, Bioanalytical, or a closely related discipline, with a proven lab focus and quality data generation.
- Computer literacy is required for standard Microsoft packages.
- Experience in handling data and its statistical comparison would be advantageous
- ideally in the arena of bioinformatics, chemical spectral analysis and associated statistical analysis and associated software.
- Critical thinking & problem solving skills, primarily in the execution and design of laboratory experiments would be advantageous using current scientific method.
