Inspired and motivated by the quote _‘Treat a child as though they are already the person they are capable of becoming’_ (Haim Ginott) **The Way Youth Zone’s internationally award-winning Mentoring Programme** offers individually bespoke mentoring support by matching young people (aged 8-19, up to 25 years with a disability), who need additional guidance in their lives, with dedicated and hardworking volunteer mentors, providing personalised 1:1 support, 1 day a week, for up to 10 months.

As a Volunteer Youth Mentor (Arts Focus), you will be **21+ **and be passionate and committed to providing effective and reliable 1:1 mentoring support to a young person, _with a focus on arts development_. Each mentoring session will last a minimum of **1.5 - 2 hours a week **(mentoring generally takes place weekday evenings/weekends and can happen in a variety of forms including in person, over the phone, and online) for **approximately 6-10 months.**

Volunteer Youth Mentors _with a focus on art development_, will be responsible for the specific mentoring of young people who have expressed an interest in the arts. This could be in a range of different Art areas appropriate to our offer as a youth zone. This specialism is ideal for anybody with skills and knowledge in the following:

- Art (Fine Art, Illustration, Graffiti)
- Music (Music Production, Instrument Teaching/Learning, Vocal Training, Song Writing)
- Performing Arts (Dance, Drama, Musical Theatre)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- You need to have an enhanced DBS check for this role which we will provide.
- A willingness to volunteer hours during evenings and weekends is required.
- The ability and willingness to travel to events in the City and beyond _(Expenses reimbursed)_
- If successful you will be invited to a group interview and will complete mentor and safeguarding training before starting.

**Job Type**: Part-time
