What You Will Achieve

Job Title: Technical Specialist - (T03)

Department: Drug Product Supply; Pharmaceutical Sciences

Reporting to: Solid Dose Manufacturing Manager

Role Definition:

- Experience required in executing GMP manufactures, setting up and stripping down complex manufacturing equipment, demonstrating complex technical problem-solving skills with successful delivery of clinical products within a fast-paced dynamic work environment.

Role Expectations:

- Experience in preparing equipment across a wide range of manufacturing operations for use in the GMP manufacturing facility, with mínimal supervision. Executes process operations and accurately records manufacturing observations within batch records. Responsible for clear escalation of technical issues and challenges.
- Complete updates to Standard Operating Procedures and other Compliance documents, whilst demonstrating a good attention to detail.
- To be actively engaged in the safety culture by raising safety incidents and being involved in the investigations and SDM area inspections when required.
- Contributes to quality & continuous improvement related activities for the benefit of the SDM and broader groups Global Workplace Solutions (GWS), Drug Product Design (DPD) & Quality Assurance (QA).
- Technical ability and confidence to identify, communicate & escalate with mínimal supervision and wherever possible, resolve issues seen during processing.
- Has the ability to learn new skills with the competence to train and develop others in various process operations.
- Uses a variety of communication tools and techniques to communicate to cross-department teams during development operations.
- Shares process operation learnings with the SDM team & others in the drug product world by reviewing their activities during and post processing.
- Conduct informal mentoring/coaching of less experienced members of the team to assist and develop the required skills and knowledge.
- Colleague interacts closely with the SDM team, Global Operations (GO) Quality Assurance (QA) Drug Product Design (DPD) to deliver Clinical and Development batches and projects to agreed timelines.
- Demonstrates a flexible attitude to working patterns whilst executing facility operations during normal, extended & shift working hours, executing the role with enthusiasm and diligence.
- Plans, prioritises, and directs own work, requiring mínimal supervision in the execution of manufacturing or compliance duties.
- Adapts well with change and changing work requirements. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and takes action in ambiguous situations. Takes an individual positive “can-do” attitude with positive influence on the immediate team.
- Willing to undertake additional skills/qualifications to complement practical experience.

Physical Requirements

Education/Experience:
Required:
Basic numeracy/literacy skills. GCSE or equivalent. (Pass grades) Maths, English

Desired:
A Level (or equivalent), pass Grades, Maths, English, Science highly desired. BTEC and international Baccalaureate (and equivalent certificates) will be considered.
