My client in **London** is looking for an experienced **Band 7 Haematology Biomedical Scientist** for a locum contract.

Job Role:

- Monday
- Friday
- 5 hrs p/w
- To participate in the provision of a Blood Transfusion Service.
- To participate in the day-to-day routine work of the laboratory including the following:

- To actively support the other Senior BMS members and the Blood Transfusion Manager.
- To participate in audits and other aspects of the QMS.
- Assist with training of junior members of staff and also assist with completion of IBMS training portfolios.
- To maintain an up to date knowledge and awareness of developments and ensure this knowledge is passed onto staff where appropriate
- To maintain high standards of laboratory safety ensuring H&S of self and other members of the team.

Qualifications and Experience required:

- **HCPC registered as a BMS**:

- At least 3 years experience post qualification working as a BMS in a routine Blood Transfusion laboratory
- Ability to work independently and without supervision
- Ability to supervise trainees and junior staff
- Ability to prioritise work.
- Ability to work accurately and quickly in an organised manner and with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively and at all levels
- Organisation and planning
- Sound understanding of established written policies and protocols, including COSHH
- A high degree of knowledge of Health & Safety issues
- A sound understanding of clinical governance and its implications
- Ability to make decisions and recommendations using own initiative and judgement
- Sound understanding of audit and outcome
- Ability to interpret statistical data
- Good interpersonal and team working skills
