**Background to SYST**

The Shropshire Youth Support Trust (SYST) commenced operations in October 2015 at The SYST Enterprise Centre in Telford. Our Mission is to empower our target groups to achieve their dreams, lead fulfilling lives and begin their journey into personal and financial independence. SYST is a charity that runs enterprise Centres and Hubs, delivering workshops, clinics, mentoring and coaching for disadvantaged people in Telford & Wrekin, Shropshire and the Marches areas.

We have a particular focus on Youth and people with Multiple & Complex needs such as; Mental health challenges, offending behaviours, young parents, unemployment and social exclusion, in various aspects of self-employment and employment, to overcome barriers and utilise their talents and potential to start self-employment and achieve realistic job goals.

**Purpose of the Role**

We are looking for someone to join us as we grow and take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of the charity’s services. You will ensure we meet the expectations and needs of our beneficiaries, partners and other stakeholders, and the volunteer team who support the running of the service.

**Required attributes**
- Great multi-tasker who pays attention to detail and is not fazed by managing a variety of tasks and people to get things done.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with a high degree of empathy and responsibility, enabling you to oversee a care giving service.
- Previous line management experience with the ability to provide direction, ownership and engagement to support performance.
- A calm and flexible attitude to be able to cope with challenges, prioritise and deliver an outstanding service.
- Great interpersonal skills with the ability to network and work collaboratively with different people and groups.
- Must be fully IT literate (MS office).

**Desirable attributes**
- Project management experience.
- Track record of successful service delivery management in public, independent or Third Sector organisation.
- Previous experience of leading a team and volunteers in a paid or unpaid capacity.
- An understanding of the local and regional labour market and employment issues within Telford and Wrekin and Shropshire and able to maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of the benefit system and entitlements.
- Previous experience of supporting young people and of NEETs and their barriers.

- Possess a Full Clean Driving License and be willing to travel around the geographical area.
- Ability to manage implementation budgets and bring projects live on time and on budget.

**Principal Duties & Responsibilities**

The principal duties and responsibilities of this role encompass tasks and activities that primarily relate to the purpose of the role and may include other duties that are supplementary to the role.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- To be fully responsible for referrals to your area within the Community Connect service.

You will:

- Meet people on a one-to-one basis. Give people time to tell their stories and focus on ‘what matters to me’. Build trust with the person, providing non-judgmental support, respecting diversity and lifestyle choices. Work from a strength-based approach focusing on a person’s assets.
- Work with individuals to co-produce a simple personalised support plan - based on the person’s priorities, interests, values and motivations - including what they can expect from the groups, activities and services they are being connected to and what the person can do for themselves to improve their health and wellbeing.
- To lead and manage all aspects of operational delivery for the company to ensure operational and financial profitability and the achievement of key performance objectives including; policies & procedures, personnel management, contract administration & finance, performance management, premise management & DDA, Health & Safety, Equal Opportunity & Diversity, service delivery
