Garden Design Assistant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a trainee / junior design assistant to join our expanding, female-lead, landscape design and construction company.

This role would suit someone who might have already undertaken training in the landscape design field, or has transferable design skills and is looking to branch out into the landscaping industry (such as graphic designers).

It is ideal for someone looking to learn skills ‘on the job’ from the senior designers and slot in to a company with an established track record and house style.

**Location and Hours**:
You will be working from our design studio which is based at our yard and plant nursery where we have two friendly, resident office dogs.

Ideally this would be a full-time role at 40 hours/week, but we can offer with part-time hours starting at 27.5 hours/week if required. Hours are to be between 9-5 Monday-Friday. It is a permanent contract.

**Salary: £22,000 to £25,000 per annum**

Due to the nature of the role, we can’t support working from home. Must be able to travel to WR7 4PW on a daily basis.

**About the role**:
Your role will be to produce client documents and marketing materials, to support the senior designers with their duties, and to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the design studio.

This may include:

- Preparing design mood boards
- Drawing up the designers plans and construction drawings
- Making amendments to drawings
- Rendering 2D plans
- Assisting with preparing our 3D visuals
- Organising and ordering materials samples
- Assisting with delivering the social media and marketing strategies
- Monitoring and ordering office supplies
- Taking deliveries
- Liaising with our in-house construction teams to enable progress on our active construction sites
- General administrative activities
- Occasionally supporting our plant nursery business with their design and administrative requirements
- Guidance will be given for all of the above tasks._

There may be the opportunity to attend horticultural shows and industry training days, and you will likely be involved with the design and construction of our show exhibits.

You will be undertaking supervised design site visits and going to our active construction sites, these tend to be large or challenging landscapes with loose, damp or rough terrain that require a degree of physical fitness to negotiate.

It is very likely that you will be involved with the planting stage of our landscape construction projects, which can be mildly physically challenging, for a few days a month e.g. setting out plants, digging small holes, watering newly planted plants with long hoses etc.

Good knowledge of Adobe photoshop and Indesign - essential.

Good team-player that enjoys working as part of a team - essential.

Knowledge of a CAD package, preferably Vectorworks - desirable and a distinct advantage, but can be taught.

Horticultural knowledge - desirable and can be taught.

Landscape construction knowledge - desirable and can be taught.
