Penrith, United Kingdom Cumbria Clock Company Ltd Full time

The Cumbria Clock Company is looking for a highly organised and enthusiastic Administrator to join our small friendly office team. (Consider starting with an attention-grabbing opening: e.g., 'Do you love organising and keeping things running smoothly?')

This role focuses on providing planning and administrative support to our horological engineers and workshop conservators.

We are a specialist company responsible for the annual maintenance of over 1,400 church and public clocks across the UK, as well as high-profile conservation projects such as the Salisbury Cathedral clock, Hampton Court’s Astronomical Clock, and “Big Ben.”

You’ll join a team of 25 staff members, including our office team, workshop conservators, and engineers working nationwide.

About the role

This is an exciting and varied position in a unique heritage business. Your primary responsibility will be scheduling and planning work for our team of horological engineers, enabling them to carry out maintenance and installations efficiently.

Key duties include:

- Planning routes and schedules for engineers and arranging accommodation as required.
- Liaising with customers, engineers, and managers to ensure smooth operations.
- Supporting the workshop and technical services managers on long-term projects, including coordinating equipment and subcontractors.
- Assisting with invoicing and maintaining accurate records.
- Helping with updates to the company website and social media accounts.
- Taking meeting notes, preparing documents, and filing paperwork.
- Supporting the introduction of a new digital planning and workshop management system.

This role offers scope to grow and develop over time, with training provided as needed. (Good to highlight growth potential - consider adding 'and to take on more responsibility over time'.)

About you

✔ Highly organised, detail-orientated, able to prioritise tasks and work to timescales.

✔ Confident in communicating with customers and colleagues at all levels.

✔ Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable learning new systems.

✔ Familiar with website management and social media platforms (or keen to develop these skills).

✔ Flexible, adaptable, and willing to take on a range of office duties.

✔ A good problem solver with a positive, 'can-do' attitude.

✔ Ideally familiar with Mac computers (desirable, but not essential).

✔ A good geographical knowledge of the UK (desirable, but not essential).

Prior office administration or planning experience is preferred, but we will provide training for the right person with the right attitude.

What we offer

Competitive salary depending on experience

31 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays)

Continued training and development

Nest pension scheme

Friendly, supportive team in a unique and fascinating industry
