**Brief**
Configuration Engineer needed for a leading defence engineering organisation based in Portsmouth who are looking to employ an experienced and well-rounded Configuration Engineer that takes pride in their work.
You will be working within a dynamic, supportive, and open team alongside 5 other Configuration Engineers at all levels. There are a lot of development opportunities within the position and the business as a whole.
**What the role entails**:
**Some of the main duties of theConfiguration Engineerwill include**:
- Transition Management of existing WTA Configuration Management processes to CSM compliant methods.
- Liaises with the Capability Insertion Team to ensure that the status of the CRs, irrespective of origin can be clearly demonstrated
- Liaison with key project stakeholders, specifically to ensure that each change is adequately captured and that information is made available to support timely progress.
- Mentors junior team members to assist with their understanding of the Configuration Management Team's deliverables and cross train them in their responsibilities
- Leads Best Practice forums and challenges the existing processes and procedures to drive efficiencies and cost savings within Configuration Management
- Research problems and issues, gather information from a range of physical and informational sources, review defects on platform or assembly in order to gain a complete understanding of the problem and all relevant circumstances and analyse problems relatedto platform and support system issues
- Generate proposed solutions that impact on operation, efficiency and performance improvement.
- Ensure that procedures for use by the WTA meet all governance and business requirements.
**What experience you need to be the successfulConfiguration Engineer**:
- Excel experience including but not limited to structured queries, pivot tables and V-look ups
- In depth experience in Windchill
- Knowledge of Change Management
**Desirables**:
- CM2 qualification (configuration management)
In order to be eligible for this role you will need to undergo Security Clearance Background Checks that requires you to be a UK resident and UK passport holder.
