**Job summary**: To provide general secretarial support to the medical team, involving typing of letters, complaints and reports, processing of referrals and the management of incoming documents. Job responsibilities: To provide an efficient secretarial/typing service for GPs and other health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, complaints and patient referrals to a high standard of accuracy and forwarding them to the appropriate agencies. To carry out document processing, adding readcodes and undertaking necessary actions on incoming documents then allocating letters to the clinical team.

To initiate contact with patients regarding actions from incoming or outgoing documents and to also receive calls related to these. Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines. Support the recall process to invite patients in for reviews. Undertake statutory and mandatory training as required.

Perform any other relevant and reasonable duties that may be requested by the Reception Team Leader or Practice Manager. Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail. Register new patients, temporary and any requiring immediate and necessary treatment, carefully checking all details for accuracy and enter on the computer registration link. Provide administrative assistance to practice staff as required, including filing, photocopying and scanning.
