The Rank Group is growing rapidly within both our Venues and Digital businesses. We have most recently acquired Stride Gaming, which,together with our existing Digital business, forms Rank Interactive.
We employ circa 8,000 people globally, with our UK office functions being located in Maidenhead (Head Office), Sheffield (Customer Solutions Hub), London (Digital) and a further office in Gibraltar, which is home to our existing Rank Digital function.
We are evolving as a business and are adding some exciting new brands and concepts to our venues and digital offering. We are looking to expand our Data Science function within our well-established strong data-driven centralised Analytical department. Our Data Science mission is to build models relative to Marketing, Customer Insights, and Safer Gambling and establish astrong culture of data-driven decision making in our organisation's strategy.
The role will give you the opportunity to grow both your technical and commercial skills by working on an extensive range of data science projects with different stakeholders.
As a data scientist, you will work on existing and new technologies to improve deliveries using data engineering and statistical approaches to uncover patterns in data through statistical/ML models.
We are not an isolated function, so expect to work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, marketing analysts and BI analysts to improve our existing models and create new models.
Currently, we are using Microsoft tech stack (inc. Azure, databricks etc.), Power BI as visualisation software and python for our models
Finally, we love to utilise our rich data lake, expand our analytical DWH and build valuable strategical insights using statistical/ML models, and work in a collaborative and friendly environment.
Core responsibilities
- Identify valuable data sources and automate collection processes
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to build data products that enable others to work with reporting effectively and inform decision-making that solves business problems with data
- Present findings to key stakeholders, and work closely with the team to provide inputs to negotiate strategies to drive performance across the business
**Qualifications**
- Graduate and/or postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. STEM, Maths, Statistics, Physics but not exclusively) or equivalent experience
- More than 2 years of working experience in a relevant position
- Proven experience in writing well-engineered code - that can be reviewed and re-used by others
- Proven experience using data science programming languages and platforms
- Good data modelling, software engineering knowledge and strong knowledge of statistical and ML modelling
- Proven ability to analyse large sets and translate them into insights and actionable business recommendations
- Great communication, collaboration, and presentation skills
- Passion for learning and keeping abreast of new technologies and data models
