**Basis**: Full time, Permanent, Time Term only 40 weeks

**What You’ll Be Doing**:
As a Safeguarding & Welfare Officer, you will:

- Monitor and review the attendance and progress of a caseload of students in identified vulnerable groups and 'At Risk' of not achieving for a variety of reasons e.g. vulnerable young person cohort (VYP), those with safeguarding and welfare issues and those with mental health needs.
- Be member of the College's Safeguarding Team as a Safeguarding Officer and deputise for the Designated Safeguarding Leads as and when required.
- Be first response to referrals regarding students' welfare and safeguarding issues, including bullying and harassment, and liaise with curriculum areas and external agencies as required if referrals are needed.
- Be the first point of contact where mental health issues are suspected and co-ordinate a response including outside agencies and referral as appropriate.
- Contribute to the disclosure of convictions and the risk assessment process in conjunction with the Student Support Services Manager.

**What We’re Looking For**:

- Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification.
- Have a Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English or equivalent.
- Are committed to undertaking any mandatory training required for the role.
- Possess a Mental Health qualification - Desirable.
- Have experience in working with and supporting vulnerable young people, including handling difficult and sensitive issues.
