Laser Applications and Systems Development Engineer.
The Position

You will be developing advanced laser micromachining processes and related hardware. You will be expected to work with our state-of-the-art DPSS laser systems using all common DPSS laser wavelengths (UV, visible, IR, mid-IR) and laser pulse durations (downto femtosecond level) together with advanced motion control and beam scanning systems.

You might need to develop and integrate beam delivery/control/instrumentation and metrology subsystems for next generation laser micro-processing systems. The position requires software development tasks.

Ideally, you will have experience of working with Lasers/Optics or other photonics/electro-optics subsystems within a photonics OEM component manufacturer, laser manufacturer or laser system integrator environment. The valuable outcome of your development workwill be further validated and progressed to higher technology readiness level by other technical teams within the company such as Engineering/Product Development or Applications.
The role will suit a graduate or experienced engineer who is keen to develop a career in hi-tech industry.
Required skills
Software: Strong interest and aptitude in software development, image processing and Linux-based server administration, programming in.NET, python, C++, web frameworks, database design and management
Education: BSc degree or higher in Lasers/ Optical Engineering, Physics, Engineering or similar qualification plus equivalent practical experience. A laser related postgraduate qualification (MSc, PhD) would be an advantage.
Communication: Excellent oral communication, technical writing and presentation skills, project management.
