Domestic Assistants

**James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, TS4 3BW**

**Permanent, Part Time (21hr & 14hr contracts available)**

**Shift Patterns: 13:30 - 20:00 and 16:00 - 20:00**

**Rate of Pay: £10.42 per hour basic, Saturday £14.62, Sunday £18.97**

Here at Serco, We are recruiting for Domestic Assistants to join us at James Cook University Hospital. The key purpose of the role is**_ _**to provide and maintain clean and hygienic conditions in a high quality and efficient manner

The Hospital provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracic, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad.

**Main Accountabilities**:

- Ensure that all Domestic service functions are undertaken in a professional, competent and safe manner.
- Specialist cleaning of areas includes infected barrier rooms.
- Comply with the Company's policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Undertake duties as identified by the Domestic Supervisor and management.
- Performance targets to be achieved to agreed standards.
- Carry out duties including cleaning of areas, collection/transfer of refuse and dirty curtains, changing/re-hanging of curtains.
- Assist in maintaining appropriate records in line with service delivery.
- Ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times.
- Ensure all domestic equipment is in a clean and hygienic condition.
- Advise the domestic supervisor of any issues associated with the domestic services.
- Report any potential Health and Safety issues or improvements.
- Report any defects/issues of equipment.
- Ensure awareness of the Trust IPC policies and undertake regular training

**What you’ll need to do the role**:

- Previous experience in a similar environment
- Customer focused with a professional approach
- Knowledge of maintaining a clean environment
- Good communication skills
- The ability to follow instructions safely and effectively
- Ability to work shifts to meet the needs of the department
- Flexibility to work additional hours when required often without prior notice
