Would you like to be part of a team who aim to make a positive change to vulnerable households and families in need with the cost of essentials?
We are currently looking for self-motivated individuals to join our new Discretionary Awards Team in our busy Revenues, Benefits & Transactional Finance Service. As part of this challenging role, you’ll be required to provide an efficient and effective service administering claims for several discretionary awards for Leicester City Council, enabling much-needed support with energy bills, payments towards rent and council tax, and urgent crisis awards of food and fuel vouchers.
There are 5 positions available for permanent or secondment opportunity part time 18.5 hours or full time, 37 hours per week. The core working hours for this role are Monday to Thursday 08.30-17.00 and 08.30-16.30 on a Friday. This position is office based office based for probationary period, after which hybrid working may be permitted however, flexible working hours are granted. You’ll be based at city hall.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work in a close-knit team and attend general meetings to advise where we are, as a team, with the scheme and time to discuss any changes. Within this role you’ll not be expected to chair any meetings, just simply attend and discuss progress with co-workers and management.
What You'll Need
As a Discretionary Awards Assistant you’ll have excellent customer service experience ensuring you’re able to resolve a variety of queries, develop good working relationships and offer sound advice in every situation. You’ll be experienced in call handling and have great communication skills to deal sympathetically and professionally with customers, who can at times be volatile, and other stakeholders.
Your experience of processing claims, in a financial environment, will ensure support claims meets the prescribed verification standards to reduce error and to prevent/ identify fraud entering the system.
