The Edinburgh Clinic was set up in 2008 and offers fast access to outpatient appointments, diagnostic services and day surgery. We are located close to the heart of Scotland’s capital and within easy reach of the city centre.

Our aim is to provide first-class independent healthcare for the local community. Patients have described The Edinburgh Clinic as ‘the hospital that feels like home. The clinic is situated in a beautiful Victorian building, which was once a grand family house. We have kept the stunning architecture and welcoming atmosphere, but installed the latest medical equipment.

Since 2011, The Edinburgh Clinic has been part of the Aspen Healthcare Group. This ensures that there is continuous investment in our equipment, facilities, staff and training.

The Edinburgh Clinic are looking for a Handyperson/Porter to join our Operations team on a bank basis.

**The Role**

To assist with all aspects of building services and general facilities within a hospital environment. To carry out all maintenance tasks and repairs to the correct legislation, requirements and Aspen group standards. This will include mechanical, electrical and fabric assets. You will provide support with day-to-day tasks required to maintain and develop the facility. To provide porter services within the hospital.

To provide cover for absences, annual leave and extra work and projects as required.

**Key Accountabilities**
- To assist with the day-to-day maintenance at The Edinburgh Clinic and associated outbuildings.
- To carry out works to the correct standards and comply with HTMs and HBNs.
- To comply with all relevant H&S legislation and local policies and procedures.
- To carry out a variety of practical tasks (e.g., deliveries within the hospital, grounds upkeep, changing medical gases cylinders, etc.).
- To liaise with all departments that may be affected by any building services work that you are responsible for and keep them informed of work progression.
- Any other duties as may be required.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- A good standard of spoken and written English (essential)
- A good working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements (essential)
- Experience of carrying out planned, preventative maintenance in buildings/estates/facilities maintenance (essential)
- Experience of minor building repair works (essential)
- A team player who also has the initiative and ability to work independently (essential)
- A good communicator (essential)
- A “can do” attitude with proven customer service skills (essential)
- A proactive, and responsible approach to undertaking work (essential)
- Ability to work under own initiative (essential)
- GCSE or equivalent pass in Maths and English (desirable)
- Generic knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems (desirable)
- A general knowledge of plumbing and heating (desirable)
- Basic joinery, building and painting and decorating skills (desirable)
- Experience of working in a hospital setting would be advantageous (desirable)
