**Support Worker**

Deafblind UK is currently seeking a Support Worker who will build relationships and trust with our customers to continue to build upon their independence and widen their areas of experience. This is a unique support worker experience working with people who have a dual sensory loss

You will work closely with the Coordinator to widen areas of experience, enable meaningful life choices and reduce the feeling of isolation across all areas of daily living with high quality communication support and putting our customers at the heart of what we do.

**Key responsibilities**
- Supporting each customer with their individual needs and support plan
- Adapt your working practice to suit individual skills and needs of the customer
- Reinforce and promote communication for daily life tasks and guidance to enable the customer to self advocate and act independently within the local community - Shopping, Life Admin, Health Appointments, Personal Finance and other matters
- Supporting with personal care tasks if required
- Promote the health and wellbeing of the customer, encouraging and supporting a healthy lifestyle
- Recognise the surrounding environment and support the customer with independence

You will share the Deafblind UK values by being people centred, empowering; including and respecting all people, committed and passionate about delivering personalised support, creative about developing new ideas.

**Qualifications**
- QCF Level 2 Health & Social Care (or a willing to obtain)

**Experience, knowledge and skills**
- We are looking for experience within a healthcare environment, supporting people who have a disability in a social care setting
- Having an understanding and respect for barriers that those with a disability face daily
- Understanding and experience of safeguarding procedures
- British Sign Language would be beneficial but not essential

Part-time hours: 16 - 30 per week

we are following Government Guidelines which is at present two COVID tests per week and wearing a mask while supporting.

- Peterborough, PE4 7UP: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
