The Senior Health Care Assistant / Receptionist carries out assigned tasks in the provision of high-quality care to patients under the direction and supervision by a Registered Nurse. Including care of adults and paediatric patients, as well as taking the role of receptionist to meet the needs of patients whilst promoting dignity, privacy and respect. To provide a range of healthcare and non-nursing duties, ensuring an efficient and effective service always.

The Senior Health Care Assistant / Receptionist will be competent to work across professional disciplines, referring patients for Allied Health Professional assessment and treatment or to other agencies as required.
- Communicate with patients and their visitors in order to promote their comfort, safety and wellbeing. To be aware of barriers to effective communication which may be evident such as cognitive, expressive and receptive impairment, embarrassment, anxiety, pain, fear, visual/hearing impairment and to seek guidance of a qualified nurse to implement strategies to overcome these.
- Support families/carers as directed by the Registered Nurse and multidisciplinary team.
- Effectively communicate with other members of the organisation and respond appropriately in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assist with the admission, safe transfer and discharge of the patient within the GP Streaming / Emergency Department.
- Ordering FP10 and ensuring records are logged onto the computer in a safe manner.
- Enable and assist the patient to perform administrative tasks such as booking patients.
- Support/assist patient to adhere to appropriate hand hygiene and infection control guidelines.
- To maintain patient clinical records in a concise, accurate and timely manner in accordance with departmental standards.
- Chaperone members of the multidisciplinary team as and when required.
