**Volunteer Role: Community Outreach Volunteer for Ujala Project (Exploring Mental Health in the South Asian Community)**

**Location**: East London & Essex (with both face-to-face and online outreach opportunities)
**Commitment**: Flexible hours per week

The **Ujala Project** is an initiative aimed at raising awareness and opening discussions around mental health within the South Asian community. We are looking for dedicated **volunteers** who speak **Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi, Tamil**, or other South Asian languages and who can help us reach out to this community. If you have a deep understanding of South Asian cultures, strong connections within the community, and a passion for mental health awareness, this is the perfect role for you

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Engage with local South Asian communities through face-to-face interactions and online platforms to open conversations about mental health.
- Help create videos and share personal or community stories to raise awareness of mental health issues and challenges faced by South Asian individuals.
- Offer cultural insights to help break down stigma and improve understanding of mental health within the community.
- Attend community events, create awareness campaigns, and participate in outreach efforts in libraries, community centres, and online spaces.
- Support the creation of content in multiple languages, allowing the message to reach as many people as possible.
- Work with a team to identify key mental health challenges and solutions that resonate with the cultural context of the South Asian community.

**Requirements**:

- Fluency in one or more South Asian languages (Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, or others).
- Familiarity with South Asian cultures, communities, and the social stigmas surrounding mental health.
- Strong communication skills and a passion for storytelling, both in person and online.
- Ability to connect with people in the community and build relationships to foster open dialogue.
- A willingness to share personal stories or encourage others to share theirs to promote mental health awareness.
