As** Head of Fleet,** you’ll lead the strategic thinking, execution of strategy, development and performance of the AA’s Fleet inclusive of the roadside vehicles used by our roadside patrols, thousands of tuition vehicles for the AA driving school/ BSM and company car fleet. **This is the job**: As the Head of Fleet, you will play a pivotal role within the AA’s Roadside Operation. The AA is the UK market leader in delivering outstanding service at the Roadside to our customers and this service is fulfilled through the employment of over 3,000 patrols. You will need to lead the strategic thinking, execution of strategy, development and performance of the AA’s Fleet inclusive of the roadside vehicles used by our roadside patrols, thousands of tuition vehicles for the AA driving school/ BSM and company car fleet. We’re seeking somebody who can demonstrate a customer focused approach to their work, has a real eye for detail and has previous experience in a fast-paced fleet leadership role. You’ll be responsible for the management of the fleet team ensuring compliance, optimising the supply build and disposal of commercial and company car fleets across the group and within budget. **What will I be doing?**: - Define and implement the strategic direction of the Group Fleet to maximise business area performance, driving improvement and development in these areas. This will be by determining business goals, strategies and plans to ensure business metrics are met and challenged. - Limiting the AA’s environmental impact, the forefront of strategic thinking in how you develop our fleet strategy. - Manage the strategy around design and engineering of our roadside fleet in collaboration with the OEM’s keeping abreast of key changes and trends in the marketplace. - Manage the fleet profit & loss account (P&L) by developing and maintaining a whole life cost model to ensure that all commercial vehicles and company cars are purchased on the “best cost” principle, considering capital cost, maintenance, fuel, accident parts and residual values to ensure they are in line with agreed budget. - Manage the relationships with all motor manufactures, contractors and suppliers negotiating all supply terms, ensuring that the supplier relationship is maintained. - Support negotiations and contracting for existing and new suppliers, ensure that they meet the governance process and regulatory standards across the AA. - Have a close working relationship with stakeholders, ensuring we have engagement at all levels within the management structure and frontline staff. - To effectively manage the performance of the team ensuring the provision of exceptional customer service to members, customers and colleagues, whilst achieving the financial and operational targets for the area. - Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, mandatory business policies and "best practice". - Provide leadership within a framework of prudent and effective controls which enable risk to be assessed and managed to fit within the Board’s agreed risk appetite. - Lead the recovery logistics team. - Be a proactive and engaged member of the Leadership team, identifying and taking ownership for team-wide initiatives that help to embed a culture of high engagement, customer focus and commercial performance **What do I need?**: **Capability, Knowledge and Experience**: - Detailed understanding of vehicle leasing - Supplier management experience - Good financial appreciation. - Knowledge of the driver duty of care responsibility - Excellent networker with an extensive list of contacts in leasing companies, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers. - Very strong negotiation skills - Strategic business acumen to develop and evaluate solutions, products and services that evolve, understanding the impact, risks and opportunities. - Significant experience of business development improvement strategy and timely delivery of large-scale programmes and projects. - Demonstrated ability to deliver the identified project/programme benefits in large multi-faceted corporate environments. **Education and Qualifications**: - Educated to degree level or equivalent management experience **Additional Information**: We’re always looking to recognise and reward our employees for the work they do.
