**Autism Practitioner - Specialist SEN School - Morden**

** Full-Time (Monday to Friday); Term-Time Only **

We, Parker Smith Inclusion, are an ethical, people-focused SEN recruitment consultancy. We are working with a prestigious specialist SEN school in Morden and the school is recruiting a passionate Autism Practitioner to join the school as early as possible.

**About the school**
- Provides education to young people aged 11 to 19 who have been primarily diagnosed with Autism/ASC and have Severe to Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (SLD/PMLD)
- Located in Morden; easy to get to via public transport
- A high achieving school with fantastic facilities including science lab
- Providing a safe and creative learning environment for pupils

**About the role**
- Working as a Learning Support Assistant in classroom settings
- Supporting children with Autism/ASC and associated learning disabilities; some may display challenging behaviour and some may have complex medical needs
- Assisting the class teacher with planning, preparing, and delivering learning activities as well as monitoring and assessing children’s achievement and progress
- Actively involved in a wide range of activities, promoting the physical, cognitive, cultural, social, and emotional well-being of the pupils
- Actively interacting with children through play-based and sensory-related activities

**Ideal Autism Practitioner**:

- Graduates who studied either Psychology, Criminology, Education Studies or Creative Arts are welcome to apply
- Has experience working with children and young people with special needs
- Has personal interests in supporting children and young people with special needs
- A positive, proactive, and patient individual who has a can-do attitude and is willing to learn
- A team player and has great communication skills
- Being able to build good working relationships with students and staff

Some of our students are non-verbal and with such a wide range of learning difficulties. Students are supported by a multidisciplinary team including Art Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Drama Therapist, and Speech and Language Therapists.
