**SALARY**
£10.06 per hour
**MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB**
- To follow our Ethos and ‘Fiveways way’, to ensure that all children attending the setting, aged 2 years to 5 years, receive high quality care, are kept safe and receive stimulating play experiences which meet their individual needs.
- To be part of and support the Playcentre team in ensuring our provision is of the highest standards and to work within a culture that continues to reflect and improve on its practice.
- To work in partnership with families and outside agencies to ensure all children can access opportunities that will support their play, learning and wellbeing.
- To safeguard the children’s emotional and physical needs.
**MAIN TASKS / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To be an effective play worker offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation to the children at the setting.
- To work as part of the team ensuring the smooth day to day organisation and operation of Fiveways Playcentre.
- To help set up the playroom on a daily basis, ensuring the indoor and outside environments are safe, clean and tidy at the beginning and end of each session.
- To take an active role in developing and delivering a play-based curriculum to meet the differing needs of children, enabling their individual potential to be realised.
- To be alert to safeguarding issues, ensuring that the welfare and safety of the children is promoted and any concerns are reported to a Designated Safeguarding Officer and Designated Safeguarding lead, following the setting’s safeguarding policies procedures.
- To ensure that all records are regularly and accurately updated and maintained.
- To be a key person for individual children, liaising with parents and carers and ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met.
- To maintain meaningful and accurate records, including online learning journals. To satisfy the requirements of parents and other early years agencies, to observe, plan and assess for their key child’s individual development needs.
- To liaise with the setting’s Senco to ensure the necessary support for individual children is accessed.
- To follow plans and programs produced by outside agencies, to support children’s individual needs.
- To build and maintain effective communication and positive relationships with staff, parents, carers, families, and relevant professionals, whilst respecting appropriate confidentiality.
- To promote positive behaviour and set good examples in terms of language, behaviour, attendance, punctuality, and dress.
- To monitor supplies of children’s play materials/resources and to report any short falls to the Manager
- To undertake any agreed and relevant training and attend and contribute to regular team and staff meetings.
- To stay informed of updates, advice, and proposed changes in practice within the Early Years sector.
- To comply with the Playcentre’s policies and procedures with specific regard to Safeguarding, Inclusion, SEND and Health and Safety
- To prepare healthy snacks and drinks and supervise mealtimes.
- To be flexible within working practises of the setting, undertaking other duties where needed, such as domestic tasks, preparation of snack, cleaning toys and equipment.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the preschool manager. Including supporting fundraising events and holiday clubs.
**Additional relevant Information**
- It is in the nature of the work that tasks and responsibilities are in many circumstances unpredictable and varied. All staff are therefore expected to work in a flexible way when the occasion arises that tasks which are not specifically covered in their job description have to be undertaken. These additional duties will normally be to cover unforeseen circumstances or changes in work and they will normally be compatible with the regular type of work. If the additional responsibility or task becomes a regular or frequent part of the staff member’s job, it will be included in the job description in consultation with the member of staff. The post holder will be expected to continually develop in her/his job role.
- Probationary period: There will be a six month probationary period.
- This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974). Applicants must be prepared to disclose any convictions they may have and any orders, which have been made against them.
