Your new role
ASEND are looking for an experienced person to support an autistic pupil with social, emotional and mental health needs and demand avoidance. We support pupils that struggle to stay in the classroom, who feel too anxious to go to school, refuse to go toschool or leave home or have mental health needs linked with their Special Educational Needs.
To meet the needs of this young person we are looking for people with backgrounds in counselling or psychology, play, or who are of a relaxed and fun nature. This person should have experience using different tricks in order to engage young people and shouldunderstand how to support someone who is demand avoidant.
Immediate start. Part time hours with flexibility around times would be required and can be discussed.
- Has experience of supporting demand avoidant and self-directed students either at a 1:1 level or in a group setting.
- Has experience of working with people with SEMH and autism.
- Has the ability to form a strong rapport with students and are able to go with the flow.
- Has an interest in sports such as music (drums in particular) and the outdoors to match the interests of this young person (this would be ideal but is not essential).
