**Job Purpose** -
**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Play a leading role in the management and development of evidence synthesis projects, and to work independently and in collaboration to bring the project to a successful completion. This will include establishing and engaging with external collaborators and stakeholders.
2. Play a leading role in the planning and conduct of assigned research individually or jointly in accordance with the project deliverables and Evidence Synthesis Group/HEHTA research strategy.
3. Establish and maintain an extensive research profile and reputation and that of the University/HEHTA. This include sustaining a track record of independent and joint publications of high-quality publications, enhancing the research impact in terms of economic/societal benefit, and gathering indicators of esteem.
4. Presentation of research to policy decision-makers, at international and national conferences, at internal and external seminars, colloquia and workshops to develop and enhance the research profile of HEHTA/the University.
5. Lead the identification of potential funding sources and the development of proposals to secure funding from internal and external bodies to support future research.
6. Take a leading role in developing and maintaining collaborations with colleagues across HEHTA/the University and wider community.
7. Play a leading role in the organisation, supervision, mentoring and training of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and less experienced members of the project team to ensure their effective development.
8. Supervise postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students as assigned by Director of HEHTA.
9. Keep up to date with current knowledge and recent advances in the field/discipline. Engage in personal, professional and career development, to enhance both specialist and transferable skills in accordance with desired career trajectory.
10. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Director of HEHTA.
11. Contribute to the enhancement of the University's international profile in line with the University's Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing the World.
**Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience**
**Knowledge/Qualifications**
**Essential**
- A3 - Knowledge of translating complex clinical and health questions into appropriate research questions for evidence synthesis
- A4 - Knowledge of advanced evidence synthesis methodologies
**Desirable**
- B1 - Knowledge of health economics and health technology assessment
**Skills**
**Essential**
- C1 - Excellent skills in appropriate statistical software commonly used in evidence synthesis (e.g. R, Stata, WinBUGS)
- C2 - Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to communicate complex/specialist concepts clearly and concisely to a broad range of stakeholders
- C3 - Proven ability to deliver quality outputs in a timely and efficient manner
- C4 - A systematic and thorough approach to work with high level of attention to detail
- C5 - A commitment to team working, professionalism and respect for others
**Experience**
**Essential**
- E1 - Significant experience of research leadership in an academic setting
- E2 - Proven track record in undertaking evidence synthesis (including systematic reviews, overviews, scoping reviews) of various types of evidence, independently or under mínimal supervision
- E3- A strong track record of publishing evidence synthesis in peer-reviewed journals
**Desirable**
- F1 - Experience in delivering teaching in evidence synthesis
- F2 - Experience in developing, submitting and winning research grant funding
**Terms and Conditions**
Salary will be Grade 8, £48,350 - £56,021 per annum.
This post is full time, and has funding for up to 36 months.
