**Senior Economic Regeneration Officer**:
Job description

Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Fixed Term until 31st March 2026 due to funding

Play an integral role in supporting SME businesses in Leicester and Leicestershire within the Leicester Employment Hub. Through your support and advise you’ll encourage business growth through recruitment and upskilling.

You’ll be joining an experienced team of senior economic regeneration officers reporting to the Employment Hub Manager. The Employment Hub is funded via the UK Shared Prosperity Funding until March 2026. The goal of the project is to reach out to local employers to help them widen access to their jobs and opportunities saving them time by being a ‘critical’ business support.

This is a full time, fixed term position working 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. On occasion, you may be required to work out of typical office hours to attend relevant stakeholder meetings. You’ll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at City Hall or working remotely from home to suit your needs. Regular travel will be expected of you whether this be within your own vehicle or by use of our electric pool car. We offer flexible and agile working to promote a healthy work life balance.

**What you’ll be doing**

Within this role, you’ll be responsible for creating openings with local businesses with a view to discussing business growth. This could include creating marketing collateral, attending networking events or direct calling. With access to internal Leicester City Council divisions, you’ll help support local residents overcome barriers and encouraging work readiness to support end to end recruitment practise.

On a day-to-day basis you’ll be working independently to build relationships with local partners such as DWP and internal Council teams to identify job ready job seekers. You’ll liaise with colleagues on the team to organise and deliver job fairs within the community.

There is also scope to identify suitable funding opportunities in support of economic development on the team such as Big Lottery, local government etc.

**What you’ll need**

You’ll have strong communication skills and be confidant in creating working relationships with key strategic stakeholders and managing complex relationships covering regeneration policy. In addition, you’ll have the ability to use IT systems to support report writing and collaborate presentations.

With a proven track record of employer engagement with an ability to confidently discuss the local labour market, understanding emerging sectors and recruitment trends. Alongside an understanding of apprenticeship funding. Your knowledge of how to support employers to create their own apprenticeship programmes will enable businesses to either upskill existing staff or complement their career’s structure.

**What we can offer you**

As well as the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance. You’ll enjoy generous annual leave, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and the option of flexible working. We’ll also give you the chance to develop your skills and expertise with a variety of training and development opportunities. In addition, you can choose from several flexible benefits, including discounts on city buses and trains. For an illustrative value of your benefits package, take a look at our benefits calculator.
