Spring Hill High School is seeking to appoint a School cook, this role may be suitable someone with previous experience of working in a care home environment or school catering. The role consists of providing meals to students with Special Educational Needs and staff on a daily basis, maintaining all health and safety checks relating to your role and ensuring a clean and tidy work environment. All training relating to the role will be provided.

We are a growing secondary independent special needs school seeking to appoint an cook to will assist us into the next stage of our development. We are looking for innovative and flexible staff who think creatively to inspire the vulnerable children we teach. In return we can offer an exciting learning environment where no day is ever the same and offers a good standard of work life balance.

Visits to school are most welcome.

**Qualifications**:

- Good numeracy/ literacy skills (at a level equivalent to level 3 of NVQ or equivalent)
- Willingness to participate in training, performance management and self evaluation of learning needs
- Safeguarding children
- Working with children who have special educational needs in the areas of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism and associated learning difficulties.

- **General understanding of national curriculum and other basic learning programmes/ strategies**:

- **Knowledge barriers to learning including, e.g behaviour management strategies and health and safety procedures.**

**Main Duties To prepare food and drink for the students, being aware of the student’s choice, likes/dislikes, nutritional needs and cultural requirements To provide light general household domestic duties**
- **To support students learning as second member of staff in a classroom under the leadership of a teacher.**:

- To have a very good knowledge the student’s risk assessment.
- To actively contribute to the development of the students risk assessment
- To observe and promote the student’s choice, independence, dignity, privacy, fulfilment and other rights
- To create and maintain professional relationship with students and staff
- Completing log entries.
- Complete intervention entries
- Maintain high standards of health and safety at all times.
- Be aware of child protection procedures and report to the relevant member of staff any concerns.
- Maintain good relationships with colleagues and work together as a team.
- To actively support other members of the team. School Cooks must carry out his or her duties with full regard and commitment to the policies and procedures of Spring Hill High School.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 per week

**Salary**: £9.50 per hour

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
