Consultant in Microbiology

Duties will be based primarily on our Pinderfields hospital site in Wakefield although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our 3 hospital sites. In addition to routine infection care, there are opportunities to be involved in a number of different areas of care delivery in the Trust, by arrangement with the clinical lead: Specific leadership of a clinical area - to be agreed after discussion with colleagues, including: o Haematology o Orthopaedics o Burns o Infection control o Water safety, theatre ventilation and food safety leads o Antimicrobial stewardship (alongside our AMS pharmacy team) o Community IV antibiotic provision o Research o Development of Mycobacterial disease clinics (alongside respiratory team) o Development of HIV and viral hepatitis clinics o Development of infectious diseases inpatient referral service and outpatient clinics Shared leadership, direction, innovation and clinical engagement, o Implementing effective service improvement strategies and developing strategic partnerships o Supporting creativity and multi-professional development within the service and team o Assuring effective leadership and coherent strategies o Helping the Microbiology Laboratory and Pathology Quality team maintain UKAS accreditation Example Weekly Timetable (based on what a timetable might look like in a 10PA job plan.
