A new opportunity is now available for a Welder to join the team at our Preston Site.
Reporting into the Production Supervisor, the main purpose of this role is to assemble or fabricate pipe or plate welding projects using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications.

A new opportunity is now available for a Pipe Welder to join the us at our Preston Site, as part of the Baxi Packaged Solutions Team.

Reporting into the Production Supervisor, the main purpose of this role is to fabricate commercial pipework our plantroom enclosures. Pipe sizes usually range from 2 inch to 10 inch, with upto 6mm wall thickness. This will involve reading fabrication drawings issued by our designer and providing technical support when required, such as suggesting improvements or cost saving practices.

**As a Pipe Welder, you will**:

- Fabricate and occasionally install plantroom pipework
- Read fabrication drawings and take measurements to ensure accuracy to drawing.
- Ensure that all activities comply with current legislation, Health & Safety Policies & Regulations, Risk Assessments, Statutory Maintenance Inspections, Quality Plans and Departmental Operating Procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or welding method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications.
- Inspect materials, maintaining tools, performing pre-welding preparations.
- Examine completed welds to ensure they are free of defects, smooth and functional.
- Communicate with pipefitters, by coordinating with their build sequence to enable timely completion of project

**Knowledge, skills, and experience required as a Pipe Welder**:

- A time served skilled tradesperson, must be qualified to BS EN ISO 9606.
- Experience of MIG and ARC/MMA carbon steel pipe welding
- Working knowledge of mechanical services beneficial
- Organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are a pre-requisite of this position.
- CSCS card preferential but not essential.
