We have a position available for a Catering Assistant to join the team at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. As part of this role, you will be required to maintain the standards of cleanliness as specified throughout the work areas, by means of approved methods.

Please note that it is a requirement of NHFM that all successful applicants pay for their own DBS certificate, if a DBS check is required for the post. The method of payment is a salary deduction from your first monthly pay.

We are looking for a catering assistant to work on a 12 Month Fixed Term contract to cover a secondment.

This post is to work every Thursday and Friday 10:00pm - 07:00am

To be able to demonstrate the ability to serve food to staff and visitors and to be able to check temperature levels and be aware of the Food Temperature Regulations in our dining room. Operation of the Staff Dining Room cash register.

Operating the central dish wash machine, cleaning, drying and checking of the staff/ward crockery and cutlery.

Preparation of Foods inc. vegetables, fruits and salads.

Preparation and dispatch of meals to patients at the ward level and communicate with supervisors about patient meal requirements.

To pick and pack meals from our main fridge and freezer for the patient meal service, picking individual meals for every ward for both meal services.

Responsible for the preparation of foodstuffs, general cleaning of equipment and areas within the Catering Department and preparation and service of food to patients on the ward or to patients, visitors and staff in the dining room. The post holder will be required to operate in the
central dish wash area

This vacancy will include all areas of catering and serving meals on wards, of which full training will be provided with the opportunity to work towards NVQ Qualification.
