Ideally, you will also need to have a proactive and flexible approach to work, whilst having the ability to appropriately delegate workload to the wider Logistics and Distribution teams to meet tight deadlines.
Communication is vital in this role, as you will constantly be interacting with staff both within and outside of the organisation, as well as liaising with patients and relatives regarding the collection/delivery of their medication.
With this being a supervisory role, there will also be full training provided (if required) to assist with various HR aspects, such as Staff Appraisals and supporting staff following a return to work after sickness absence.
The role will primarily require organising the transportation of medicinal products off-site, and, in and around the retained estate of the hospital through the use of approved couriers and porters.
As well as working within the Logistics team, there will be a requirement to closely support the Pharmacy Distribution Team with the supply of stock medicines to wards, departments, and outside units.
Due to the nature of this role, it will be vital to have awareness of legislation and guidance in place such as the requirements of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and GDP (Good Distribution Practice), of which, appropriate training will be provided. As we also supply external entities and other hospitals you would also need knowledge and awareness of the requirements for supply medication under a Wholesale Distribution Authorisation - WDA(h).
