**Job summary**:
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 12,500 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.
Headquarters Standing Joint Command role is responsible for: Security of The Homeland, Ceremonial Duties and activities within London and surround area, Recruiting for the British Army, Initial training of both Officers and Soldiers, and providing the Army's HR service, including overseeing of career management, assignments and performance appraisal for all members of the Regular and Reserve Forces.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
**Job description**:
This is a busy and wide-ranging job, working as part of a small team of Army HR specialists. You will be responsible for Officers' Appraisal Reports, Annual Grading Boards, and recruitment into both Officer and Soldier jobs.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Responsible for the provision of HR support for military personnel within the Headquarters.
- Manage and maintain the Home Command Reporting Matrix; collating information on personnel from across the organisation to enable Military planning.
- Management of Microsoft SharePoint and MS Teams sites for the Military HR team, ensuring information is stored correctly and with appropriate Data Protection principles applied.
- Information Asset Owner - ensure compliance with Data Protection legislation.
- Unit Establishment Administrator - responsible for a number of tasks on the Oracle based system, including: management of reporting structures, management of ‘workflow’ activities processed through the system, allocation and amendment of roles and responsibilities within the system, and the submission of requests for new accounts.
- Creation of Appraisal Reports for military staff and associated tracking spreadsheets when required.
- Support the team with digital processes and through the use of Office tools, particularly OneNote.
- Advise and support to Military and Civilian Reporting Officers in the preparation of military Job Specifications and Adverts.
- Subsequent liaison with the Army Personnel Centre on all submissions for ‘Job Lists’ to support future recruitment and resourcing priorities.
- Work on the Talent Management system to support the digitisation of Job Specifications.
- Support to the Team Leader with preparation for Post Mapping Boards when required.
- Develop an extensive understanding of Military HR policy (don’t worry, you will be taught and learn on the job). A major part of this role is the use of our HR IT system.
- You will be empowered to work autonomously, leading with your own of responsibility, and working with a wide range of personnel both face to face and remotely.
Hybrid working is available and encouraged in line with Civil Service policy, and you may be required to be in the office more often during particularly busy periods like Honours & Awards Screening Panels and Officers’ Order of Merit Boards.
