Gallery Operations Manager

Alchemy is partnering with an established London gallery, which is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team.
This role has a major focus on complex art installations, facilities/space management, operations, and shipping.
**Responsibilities**:
- Plan, execute and oversee the installation of all shows across multiple gallery locations, as well as select external and institutional exhibitions.
- Work with artists to make sure they have everything they need for the installation.
- If required, hire, and supervise freelance technicians for various installations.
- Supervise the installation of artworks in the viewing room and office areas, while communicating with the directors to ensure the exhibition is installed according to their requirements and deadlines.
- Manage the safe transit, storage, and installation of artworks for art fairs.
- Work with the gallery Registrar on the coordination of artwork transportation for buyers with on-site shippers.
- Ensure all artists’ technical requirements are being met, and work with external vendors and fabricators.
- Coordinate the framing and production for all exhibitions and art fairs, while coordinating with artists and management to achieve the needed quality, timelines, and budgets.
- Ensure the adequate packing of customers’ art and complete installations if required.
- Manage the condition reporting for gallery shipments if necessary.
- Responsible for the presentable appearance of the gallery, actioning small repairs and liaising with third-party vendors if needed.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and tradespeople on the development of any new or temporary exhibition spaces.
**Requirements**:
- Significant experience in Art Handling/Installations and Gallery Operations or Facilities Management in an art gallery or similar space.
- Great communication skills, as the role requires interactions with artists, vendors, and clients.
- Excellent collaboration and multi-tasking skills, plus attention to detail.
