As the emphasis of our work is focussed on increasing independence and optimal quality of life for our clients and their families, we are seeking to employ a small team of dedicated Support Workers to work alongside our client and his family living in the Durham area of North East England.

**Support Workers - flexible, part-time hours available.**

**Location**:
Client’s home in Durham, North East England.

**Salary**:
£12.00 per hour during the week, £13.00 per hour at the weekend.

**Hours**

We are looking to recruit for several part-time positions, to support our client. Hours of work are usually between 8am until 10pm and/or occasional nights however, flexible hours are available.

The post includes weekends, and some Bank Holidays.

**Main Place of Work**:
Client’s home and community in Durham, North East England.

**Reporting Structure**:
You will be employed by the client’s deputy.

**Background**:
We are looking for a small team of motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible individuals with a commitment to supporting a 41-year-old gentleman with an acquired brain injury to enable him to lead a fulfilling and structured life.

Our client uses a wheelchair for distance, however, is mobile, although unsteady on his feet and always requires supervision. As part of the role, you will be expected to undertake a range of duties to support our client and will work with other members of the team to provide the highest standards of care.

As the post requires you to work independently, you must be able to work and conduct yourself in an acceptable manner. Reliability, integrity, and complete trustworthiness are essential attributes in this role.

This is an opportunity to develop your skills through regular supervision, support and guidance provided by the case manager, at the same time as helping to enrich the life of our client and contributing to his therapy programme.

**Key Support Tasks and Responsibilities**

**Specific**:

- To supporting the client to maintain personal care to include, washing/bathing, dressing, teeth cleaning, personal grooming, and continence care.
- To make sure privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
- To help with nutrition, physical management, and general health.
- To support therapeutic programmes.
- To assist in supporting a physical management programme.
- To provide appropriate therapeutic and leisure activities in the home and wider community.
- To check and clean equipment as required.
- To drive him to places of interest and rehabilitation appointments as and when required (a car will be available for this purpose).
- To assist with attending healthcare and therapeutic appointments.
- To accompany him on family trips/holidays as required.
- To maintaining his safety in all environments.
- To attend care team review meetings.

**General**:

- Promote, monitor, and maintain health, safety, and security in the workplace.
- Promote effective communication and relationships.
- Contribute to the protection of individuals from abuse.
- Establish and maintain a trusting and therapeutic, working relationship.
- Be responsible for the client’s personal welfare.
- Liaise with other support agencies as required.
- Complete daily records as advised including time sheets, daily record sheets, medication sheets, petty cash sheets and critical incidents.
- Attend review meetings with the employer and other persons as nominated by the employer.
- Attend training sessions as arranged.

**Essential experience**:

- Experience of working with adults with an acquired brain injury.
- Confident about working in the client’s own home and sensitive to his needs and those of his family.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality and privacy and establish appropriate boundaries.
- Capable of building an open and trusting relationship with our client, his family, and the team.
- Advocate for our client’s well-being when appropriate to do so.
- Assist with promoting an engaging environment at home and in the community.
- Patience and tolerance.
- A good sense of humour.
- Responsible attitude.
- Motivated with a positive, flexible approach and ability to use own initiative.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- Full driving licence (a car will be available to use).
