Always being one step ahead, and making things happen - that is the aim of Category Planning and Ranging team at Sainsbury’s. To succeed in the highly competitive landscape of grocery retail, you must be bold, make decisions quickly, and spot opportunities where others do not.
We have two opportunities for a Range Merchandiser to join our Health & Beauty or Household, Baby & Pet categories in our Food Commercial Grocery teams. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of our key ranging initiatives to ensure we are offering the best products for our customers; after all customers are at the heart of what we do. There will be lots of great collaborative and cross-functional working with a variety of stakeholders here at Sainsbury’s, where you’ll get to partner in project managing both the ranging and merchandising in your area.
As a Range Merchandiser you’ll love data analysis, identifying trends and turning them into meaningful insights. With your combined merchandising principles you’ll support the Range Analyst to drive the commercial strategy for the category.
**As a Range Merchandiser you’ll**:
- Deliver tactical range changes by combining all relevant data/insights and range & space expertise
- Identify range opportunities that unlock incremental category spend and customer satisfaction through an improved offer
- Project manage all JDA events, within the range comm process supporting the Range Analyst in end-to-end execution of key ranging initiatives.
- Up-skilling category team on store requirements and impacts of commercial decisions through grasping end to end process
- Ensure planograms are using in depth analysis of category performance are easy for to implement instore and customers to shop whilst adhering to the corporate and category merchandising principles
- Ensure maintenance of planograms for all ranging activity
- Communicate range changes by building clear and concise store implementation briefing packs as required
- Proactively review range performance using the reporting tools available and conduct Post Implementation Reviews of major range changes and identify and resolve issues
- Identifying key themes from store feedback to identify where key issues sit, Problem solving systemic issues (JDA) and identifying issue resolution and next steps
- Understand the relevant visual merchandising equipment needs for the trading area and work with the Retail Excellence Manager, Formats, SDG and Procurement teams as appropriate to trial, sign off, survey and install new equipment.
**Our Health & Beauty and Household, Baby and Pet Teams would love to see**:
- Skilled in data analysis with ability to identify trends within data
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects across different timelines
- Product, market, and consumer knowledge
- Ability to exercise judgement in the face of multiple, and sometimes conflicting, demands
- Effective communicator who influences successfully at all levels and presents a clear point of view
- Ability to work across multiple projects facing into a variety of stakeholders at all levels
- Previous JDA experience (Desirable)
- A good understanding of the relationship between space and range
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel and PowerPoint
