As a High-Speed, Precision, Tungsten Carbide Press Tooling Technician you will be responsible for carrying out changeover's repairs and servicing on precision, carbide press tooling and conventional steel tools to work on permanent day shifts. Responsibilities for the Toolmaker: " Preparation and maintenance of existing press tooling " Ensures all tooling is safe and production ready at the time returned for production use, following correct preventative maintenance (PM) process. " Supports coordination of engineering changes and supports maintenance of spare parts. " Prepares and tests tools by laying out / setting up / machining. " Fits and assembles parts and test completed tools for proper operation. " Sets up and carefully monitors tools and performs inspections prior to removing tooling from the machine. " To communicate problems, issues and any work required or outstanding to the day shift. Experience needed for the Toolmaker: " Time served Toolmaking apprenticeship with experience working as a Toolmaker or high pressure press Toolmaker with either a tool manufacturer or domestic toolroom. " Experience of performing press maintenance, strip down, repair and re-assembly of press machine tooling is most desirable. " Ability to read engineering drawings and use appropriate measurement equipment. " Experienced in the use of hand tool skills and toolroom machinery and equipment: milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, bench grinder etc. " Ability to follow and execute the preventative maintenance program. " Able to manage and prioritise multiple tasks. Must be a fully qualified Toolmaker with extensive experience of Press Tooling, particularly high speed, tungsten carbide. Must be self-motivated and able to work alone and without supervision.
