From woodwork to water jets to paint shop, the RSC's Scenic Workshop is a hive of activity that allows our productions to move from a concept to reality.

We are looking for a Workshop Assistant to join our Scenic Workshop in a varied and busy role.

What will you be doing? As a Workshop Assistant every day could look different. You'll be helping assist the team in the production of scenery and some of your responsibilities will include:

- Operating a range of complex wood working and metal working machines
- Operating a range of hand and power tools
- Operating the CNC and water jet machines
- Preparing and spraying metal frames
- Assisting in block colour painting of scenery
- Driving company vehicles, locally and across the UK
- Helping with the pre-build of sets
- Carrying out daily checks on all machines
- Maintaining a high level of housekeeping across the workshop

Most importantly you'll bring:

- A knowledge of workshop environments
- Physically capable of performing workshop duties including lifting and moving of large heavy items
- Basic knowledge of Health and Safety and environmental legislation
- Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure to deadlines
- Pro-active and flexible approach to work
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Excellent organisational skills

Our Workshop Assistant position is based at our workshop on the outskirts of Stratford-upon-Avon. There may be some travel to London and other theatres, depending on the demands of each production.

This is a full-time, permanent position which offers you the opportunity to learn new skills in a variety of areas. You will be based at our Workshops on Timothy's Bridge Road in Stratford-upon-Avon, where the working hours for this role are 44 per week,Monday to Friday. However, some occasional evenings and weekends maybe required.
