Pharmacy Clinical Fellow
We are seeking a registered pharmacist who is passionate about improving outcomes for patients and delivering great value medicines for the NHS. As a part-time Pharmacy Clinical Fellow you would support the Medicines Repurposing Programme, which identifies and progresses opportunities to use medicines outside of their existing medical indication. Working with several national agencies, we identify the most promising repurposed medicines and support their future adoption in the NHS. The programme is unique internationally, placing England at the forefront of medicines repurposing.
As a Clinical Fellow you would receive a tailored package of professional development and support. The post offers opportunities to:
- Work in a recently established, innovative and dynamic national programme.
- Observe the development of national clinical commissioning policies within Specialised Commissioning.
- Attend Steering Group meetings with senior representatives from five national agencies.
You will be managed by, and receive support from, senior pharmacists.
Your role will be to provide pharmacy advice to support the identification and delivery of medicines repurposing projects, including:
- Advising on commissioning and reimbursement arrangements for medicines.
- Identifying and managing risks related to the supply, licensing and pricing of medicines.
- Assessing whether medicines meet the programme eligibility criteria and collating information to support prioritisation decisions.
- Supporting Working Groups tasked with repurposing a specific medicine.
The post is 0.4 FTE for 12 months. Clinical Fellow roles are often offered on a fixed term appointment basis throughout NHS England and NHS Improvement. This is because the role will typically form part of a healthcare professional's personal and professional development, giving them exposure to, and knowledge of, a national programme or commissioning role as part of their planned progression to a more senior future appointment. Where possible we will seek to allocate you discrete projects that can be completed, or reach significant milestones, within the year.
