An excellent opportunity for a Caretaker to Join the facilities team in a Secondary School in Croydon. The facilities team comprises of a Site Manager and Caretakers. You will be a highly motivated and reliable individual with previous experience or knowledge of basic building maintenance and repair. All duties within the school must be carried out to comply with Health & Safety, COSHH regulations and other legal and nationally agreed regulations or relevant codes of practice.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Carry out general repairs and refurbishments
- Perform routine plumbing tasks such as unblocking of sinks, urinals and toilet basins
- Supervise contractors that are working on site, under the direction of the site manager
- Receive deliveries
- Liaise with the site manager regarding the management of waste/recycling collection
- Ensure all premises storage areas are kept clean and tidy
- Monitor the standards of cleaning carried out by the cleaning staff
- Cover shifts and duties for absent premises staff as directed by the site manager
- Carry out periodic testing of hot and cold-water outlets

**Essential Skills**
- Experience of basic building repair and maintenance
- Experience of the use of small industrial, electrical and mechanical equipment
- Ability to prioritise and manage workflow
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
- Good verbal and written skills
- Willingness and ability to work a shift rota system
- Willingness and ability to be on standby call out for any emergencies

**Hours: Monday - Friday**

Must be flexible as overtime might be needed occasionally

**Must have valid Enhanced DBS**

**Salary**: £12.50-£14.50 per hour

- Croydon: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- Maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
