Coventry College was formed in August 2017 as the sole General Further Education provider in the city, delivering vocational, technical and professional education and training to learners of all ages, from Entry Level to Higher Education.
**The Role**
Coventry College is looking to appoint a Technical Trainer who will inspire our learners to achieve their full potential. You will plan, prepare and undertake training and assessment activity in a college training facility or in a learner's place of work. Within the role you will develop assessment procedures and opportunities that are directly linked to the scheme of work, deliver training where required and assist students with action planning and recording achievement.
**Main Responsibilities**
- Undertake a programme of work which may include classroom/workshop teaching, workplace training and assessment, and delivery of open/distance learning packages.
- Develop and deliver a range of Engineering related courses across a variety of levels.
- Undertake organisational and administrative work associated with course/service provision including work preparation, devising, setting, marking and evaluating assignments and schemes of work, formal assessment and accreditation.
- Undertake student welfare duties and provide tutorial support and guidance referring students to the College's learning support services as appropriate or the Counsellor for issues relating to non-academic matters.
- Work with Apprentices in the workplace to develop their competences, knowledge, skills and behaviours to include end point assessment.
- Carry out practical assessments in the workplace, to include observations and gathering of evidence to satisfy qualification and end point assessment requirements.
- Work with line manager to identify training needs and actively seek out relevant training and development opportunities.
- Participate in the College's appraisal process.
As a Technical Trainer Engineering, you should:
- Minimum of Level 2 qualification, or equivalent competency, in Maths and English or willingness to achieve in a specified timescale
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant discipline (Engineering)
- A or TAQA units or equivalent
- Business insurance and access to a vehicle to facilitate workplace visits
You should also be able to demonstrate:
- Experience of delivering Apprenticeship standards or similar
- Experience of employer engagement and generating new apprenticeship business
