**The Role**

We are looking for an experienced Portfolio Delivery Manager to help our project and programme teams deliver our £50m p.a. National Flood Portfolio of business improvement projects.

**Key Responsibilities**:
The key responsibilities of a Portfolio Delivery Manager include, but are not limited to:

- Guiding, supporting and assuring delivery of all our business improvements projects that help warn, inform and protect citizens and businesses from the devastating impacts of flooding
- Using technology to enable our Operational colleagues to better build and maintain over £20bn of flood defences.
- You will work closely with our team of project and programme managers, colleagues and suppliers to ensure our programmes of work are efficiently and effectively planned, delivered and embedded.
- You’ll manage part of our team and play a key role in shaping and building a top class PMO.
- When working on projects, will identify, develop and implement complex projects with a wide scope, possibly involving multiple partners.
- Accountable for quality management information and documentation to support the planning of strategic
priorities, to inform business decisions and provide a sound basis from which to communicate with and
influence internal and external partners.
- Develop, maintain and share technical expertise with staff to improve knowledge and competencethroughout the organisation as required.

We protect and improve the quality of water, making sure there is enough for people, businesses, agriculture and the environment.

Our work helps to ensure people can enjoy the water environment through angling and navigation. We look after land quality, promote sustainable land management and help protect and enhance wildlife habitats. And we work closely with businesses to help themcomply with environmental regulations. We can’t do this alone. We work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.

**The Person**

The key skills and qualities of a Portfolio Delivery Manager are:

- Excellent, proven project / programme / portfolio management skills and experience, with good knowledge of what best practice looks like
- A successful track record in a senior Portfolio / Programme Management Office (PMO) role, or of project managing a wide range of large and small, complex business improvement projects
- Ability to influence project / programme managers and team members through line or matrix management, providing constructive challenge and support in order to help our projects to deliver and embed successfully
- The ability to gain credibility, respect and co-operation throughout the business by showing the appropriate leadership behaviours
- An ability to work with uncertainty and find innovative solutions to solve problems
- Professional’s qualifications, Chartered / MAPM status, and accreditation in Prince2 / MSP / P3O are desirable but not essential, training provided.
