Job Title: ON-TRAIN - TICKET EXAMINERS Location: Dalmuir **Salary**: £30,255 per annum on completion of training. The trainee salary is £20,993 per annum. Training: 5 days training and a 2-day Induction programme. Contract: Permanent Hours: FULL-TIME 35-hour week. Various shifts & weekend working. Monday - Sunday earliest start time 04.19 latest finishing time 01.00 hours. The interviewing managers within Scotrail will be more specific around rosters and availability at Final Interview. Shift patterns are generally early one week / late the next week with rolling rest days. Rosters are produced each week and are available Thursday AM for starting on the following Sunday. **Job Description**: - For many passengers you'll be the face of the organisation that they will remember. - Creating a first-class impression, and making them feel safe, secure and welcome, should come as second nature to you. - You need an eye for detail when checking and issuing tickets, an organised mind when handling cash and processing card transactions and a level head when patrolling the train and dealing with overcrowding, travel, customer issues and other situations that might unexpectedly arise. - This role will involve assisting passengers with disabilities to board and alight trains and could involve the use of a portable ramp which weighs up to 15kg, the portable ramp may be required to be carried the full length of a train. Skills Required: - We can't stress enough how important it is that you are a "people person" who can manage all kinds of situations constructively. - This role is about delivering quality customer service and thinking clearly on your feet. - Act with integrity at, all times, to provide helpful solutions to passengers and staff. - To be successful in this role you will demonstrate a commitment to exceeding customer expectations, have total confidence and ability to deal with conflict situations constructively, be a real team player and highly proactive. - Your excellent communication skills will be evident, as will the ability to work alone when required and be able to demonstrate individual initiative when required. You don't need to have any experience as your training will include induction, customer service, commercial skills, first aid, fire safety, disability awareness and conflict management - will be professionally delivered to give you all the tools you need to master this interesting role.
