**Job description**

American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC) is recruiting an experienced and dedicated individual to work as part of a horticultural team on the grounds of the 4.5-acre Brookwood American Military Cemetery. Place of work: Dawney Hill, Brookwood, Surrey, GU24 0JB.

**Major Duties and Responsibilities**

The Gardener works under the direction of the Head Gardener to conduct seasonal gardening tasks (including maintenance of a fine lawn, scarification, fertilizing, shrub pruning, and operation of pedestrian and ride-on horticultural equipment). The Gardener must be capable of identifying horticultural problems, offering advice to management, and operating independently as well as in a team.

**Requirements**:

- Have 3-5 years proven track record in horticultural and turf (ground) care within a multi-discipline team.
- Have working knowledge of plants and shrubs.
- Understand pruning techniques.
- Understand common pest and disease problems.
- Understand UK Health & Safety regulations.
- Have knowledge of sustainable environmental practices.
- Be comfortable working at heights.

**Salary and benefits**
- This is a permanent full-time position, 40hr week, Monday - Friday (some weekends)
- Salary range: £27,527 - £33,645 (depending on qualifications and experience).
- Supplemental pension and health insurance are available.
- ABMC observes both US and UK bank holidays.

**Qualifications**
- NVQ Level II (or equivalent) qualification in Horticulture, Turf Maintenance, or similar Ground management qualification.
- A current UK driving license.
- Must be able to pass a stringent security clearance procedure prior to employment.
- Must be legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. ABMC does not sponsor employment, and US citizens are not eligible.
