**Job Overview**

The ultimate purpose of this role is to make sure all SHE teams, their stakeholders and customers across TfL have quality data that they trust and understand - to make confident, fact-based decisions that improve the safety, health and environmental impacts on those across London.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Clearly set the direction, priorities and standards to data owners and data users for the way SHE data is to be collected, managed, improved, used and shared so that insight is trusted and valuable.
- Be responsible for making sure all SHE data processes, policies and standards are aligned and are compliant to both TfL and external policies and requirements.
- Own and maintain data governance documentation and tools - including the conceptual data model, data dictionary, meta-data, glossaries, reference data.
- Monitor data quality, governance processes and activities - including via data audits and validation checks.
- Communicate the performance of data assets, data quality, governance processes through KPIs to build an understanding and confidence of SHE data quality and governance processes.
- Initiate, plan and oversee the delivery of data governance activities and improvements to drive data quality across the data life-cycle - by mobilising cross functional improvement teams of data, process and system stakeholders across TfL.
- Champion and establish a culture of best practice data governance and stewardship across SHE.
- Providing data advice and support for all SHE systems and users - to facilitate improvements, resolution of issues, data cleansing and enrichment activities.

**Knowledge**
- Knowledge of the administration of database technologies (e.g. SQL, R).
- Knowledge of data governance best practices and trends and approaches related to data protection.
- Knowledge of data related regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
- Knowledge of Process Improvement, project management and Agile methodologies.

**Skills**
- Change Management - Ability to change the way SHE data is managed, maintained and improved and quickly build adoption for new ways of working with data and systems.
- Stakeholder Management and networking: Establish collaborative relationships active support for SHE's governance framework within SHE, across TfL and external service providers.
- Communication: Present complicated technical problems to non-technical people in a way they will understand them and be interested - both verbal and written.
- Analysis: Assess complex problems and large data sets to quickly establish insights and make recommendations.
- Project Management: An ability to get things done, properly and quickly.
- Influence: Ability to influence outside of direct line management control.

**Experience**

Required:

- Proven ability to work in a matrix managed organisation and working in a cross functional role
- Demonstrable experience in delivering data governance strategies through to implementation.
- Demonstrable experience in embedding data governance in an operational delivery context.
