Community Paediatric Occupational Therapist - Clinical Lead (Band 7)
Full-time post - 37.5 Hours

Are you an experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist who is looking to develop your clinical and leadership skills? We are recruiting to this rewarding role of a Clinical Specialist within our Children’s Therapy Service.
The Children’s Therapy Service are a team of Occupational Therapists and Speech & Language Therapists and Assistants who offer telehealth consultations, clinics and school/home visits to children across Lancashire. They also work in collaboration with Physiotherapists from Pennine Trust and wider system partners. The Children’s Therapy Service provide a multi-disciplinary approach to the needs of children who have motor/perceptual difficulties that impact upon their functional life skills and access to their environment.
- Be supported to develop your specialist knowledge and therapy assessment/interventions to meet the needs of children and young people becoming an expert resource for Occupational Therapy practice within the Children’s Therapy Service. You will
- Focus on occupational performance challenges for children with long term neurological and genetic conditions, with a particular interest in Early Years children and life-long support, compensatory and adaptive approaches.
- Be supported to innovate and lead improvements, acting as a champion of new ideas within the Children’s Therapy Service. You will also be encouraged to grow your leadership skills in the development, provision and delivery of Occupational Therapy across the service.
- Be supported to advance Occupational Therapy within an identified locality team in conjunction with the Team Manager using a co-production framework. As a leadership team you will develop multi-disciplinary team practice, so that the team is effective in meeting the occupational needs of their populations.
- Provide professional leadership in terms of clinical developments, monitoring local practice relative to national guidance and established best practice. You will lead on clinical supervision, training and developing competencies with OT’s and assistant OT’s. You will develop your management of challenging situations, and work with children and young people with challenging needs in collaboration with parents/care-givers and MDT.
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire, Cumbria and Sefton area.

There will be opportunity to lead on service wide development, provision and delivery of occupational therapy for a specified portfolio, supporting your peers with embedding initiatives from their portfolio area. We are currently reviewing the portfolio areas (long term conditions, early years and time limited clinic based input) to ensure they remain appropriate and they may be changed accordingly. Ultimately each portfolio will relate to the occupational therapy treatment, support and compensatory needs of one or more of the following client groups: neurological conditions, genetic disorders, rheumatic conditions and neurodevelopmental disabilities.
Active involvement in research and audit within the Occupational Therapy Service is encouraged.
