London, United Kingdom Lichfields Full time

Overview:
**Exciting Heritage Graduate Opportunity in Planning and Development Consultancy, based in London.**

Are you eager to embark on a career in a thriving and independent staff-owned planning and development consultancy?

We seek a heritage graduate for our London office who shares our passion for shaping the most exciting projects across the UK. We were named Consultancy Practice of the Year at the 2023 RESI Awards and are recognised to be one of the 'Best Places to Work in Property' by Property Week magazine.

While you would be placed in the London-based heritage team, the nature of the role means that you would be working with colleagues across all our offices nationwide.

We are seeking a graduate with knowledge of standing buildings and structures as well as potential archaeological remains. In this position you will bring an understanding of the built historic environment including world heritage sites, listed buildings, scheduled ancient monuments, conservation areas, battlefields and historic landscapes. You will research and analyse buildings and sites to prepare statements of significance, assess the effects of developments on the historic environment, and liaise with and advise clients, co-consultants and local planning authorities to assist in delivering positive change. You will also develop your knowledge and experience of archaeology to prepare desk based assessments, identifying the archaeological potential of sites and advising on mitigation strategies. Experience of and interest in developing skills in GIS and townscape assessment would also be beneficial.

**Responsibilities**:
**Why Join Lichfields?**
- ** Dynamic Environment**: Our heritage team has a fantastic track record of working with high-profile sites such as the National Portrait Gallery, BBC Broadcasting House, Southbank Centre, Warwick Castle, Leeds General Infirmary and Blackpool Tower; and you can expect to work on similar types of sites and projects. We also prepare desk-based archaeology assessments and townscape and visual assessments and, with the appropriate skills and training, you will also be expected to work in these areas. For more information, our Heritage Brochure and Archaeology Service Guide can be found here.
- ** Competitive Rewards**: Your hard work and dedication will be well-rewarded, both financially and in career growth. We offer a highly competitive salary and profit-sharing bonus scheme for all staff.
- ** Supportive Culture**: At Lichfields, we foster a supportive and collaborative culture where we take care of one another and have a busy calendar of staff and client social events.
- ** Professional Development**:We will help you to develop your career by working on a wide range of projects and supported by our learning and development programme. We would expect you to be a member of the IHBC, CIfA or RTPI. Mentoring and networking opportunities are provided to help build supportive relationships. You may currently be in another consultancy role or working in local government or elsewhere. If you have good heritage and townscape expertise and a desire to succeed we can help you realise your full potential.

Qualifications:

- A minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent at a relevant first degree and may have a relevant post-graduate degree.
- Relevant qualifications would be Archaeology, History, Conservation, History of Art and Architecture, Town Planning.
- Relevant work experience will also be beneficial.
- Full information on A level, GCSE and other qualifications should also be provided.
- Good analytical, presentation and writing skills, together with a clear commitment to working in the historic environment field.
- A master's degree in an IHBC course (or predicted completion) is highly desirable.
