Polymer Scientist

A globally recognised energy storage business based in Guildford is currently seeking a Polymer Scientist to join and lead their established R&D team on a permanent basis. As Polymer Scientist, you will take part in various activities including scale-upof energy storage technology, research and development of novel polymers applied into fuel cells and testing commercial membranes.

**Polymer Scientist responsibilities**:

- Assist in scale-up of fuel cell technology
- Measure and analyse properties of membranes using in-house testing techniques such as ionic conductivity, chemical stability, mechanical strength, and water uptake.
- Research, identify and develop techniques that could be used to improve quality control measures for fuel cell technology.
- Develop testing methodologies and quality control processes
- Develop novel polymers specifically for Fuel Cells and/or Electrolysers
- Establish structure-property relationships between membranes and fuel cell performance
- Record, analyse and report on experiments performed and their outcomes

**Polymer Scientist requirements**:

- Ideally possess a PhD level qualification (Master's degree also accepted) in a relevant area of study - chemistry, polymer science, electrochemistry.
- Demonstratable knowledge and industry experience of materials science, polymer chemistry and ideally fuel cell/electrochemistry knowledge.
- Practical experience working with polymer membranes (synthesis and characterisation).
- Strong understanding of MS office.
